    Ignore any negative comments on these speakers. I have the Kappa 693.9i 3-way 6X9′s and the Kappa 60.9cs 2-way components. And I must say, they are AMAZING! From the bass to the highs. They produce the most realistic sound when powered with a great amp like my Kappa Four amp. If anyone is thinking about buying these… DO IT! I have all Infinity Kappa products and none of them have let me down.

    Good point, we wondered about that as well, so we tested these with many aftermarket and factory radios. So far we haven’t found a stereo that can’t handle the lower impedance.

    Remember, the radio is probably designed for 4-ohm speakers, and with the length of the speaker wire, and the heat on that wire, the impedance the radios “sees” is pretty close to 4-ohm when a 2-ohm speaker is used. Higher than 4-ohm with a 4-ohm speaker.

    I just bought the Kappa 693.9i 3 way 6×9. And they are incredible! People these are not harsh speakers! If you are having problems with harshness you need a nice eq to tame and tweek these speakers and its beautiful!

    Since ’95 ive only used infinity or pioneer for my hi’s and mid’s and have been more than pleased with the sound reproduction, duribility and quaility. that said, i replaced all four factory speakers with some spakin new682.9cf’s and was beyond disapointment. one of the tweeters didn work and the rest struggle at mid-hi volume. when i ordered them i was like yes, opening the box i was like hell yea, listening to them i was like WTF. Porb just got a bad lot, the replacments should be uo to par.

    @BigCProductions99 I agree, high prestiged brands do not mean high quality products anymore.

    @scatman0707
    you can definitely just replace the speakers

  8. crutchfieldtv says:

    @scatman0707

    Assuming it’s the speakers going bad, and not the left amplifier channel in the factory radio/amp, then yes, you can replace the speakers without replacing the radio.

    You could replace them with factory replacement Infinity speakers, or with aftermarket speakers like the ones we sell.

    You should call us to discuss the particulars, but it certainly can be done.

    My dad has a 2004 Dodge Ram with the Infinity sound system in it, but now the driver side speakers are going out. Would we be able to just replace the speakers themselves, or will we have to get a new head unit as well? He likes the sound quality that they have, so do I, and they are a massive upgrade from the standard speakers.

    @coddsac65 No….not so good….guys….they are harsh..

  11. crutchfieldtv says:

    @kingJim4

    Yes you can, but you probably shouldn’t. They are 2-ohm, and more efficient than past versions of Kappas, so they will play music, and it will sound good. Kappas aren’t designed for “good” though, they are designed for “great”, and to get them to sound great you’ll need more power. At least as much as in an aftermarket stereo, but preferably a separate amplifier.

    You might be fine with factory if the Kappas are small, like 3-1/2″ or 4″, but anything bigger, get an amp.

    Thanks

  12. kingJim4 says:

    can you run kappa speakers on a stock radio?

  13. imfercho says:

    @TexasStrat “They are just too chinese talking about manufacturing quality”. That’s what the guy said when he fixed one of my infinity kappa tweeters for the second time (And I have no more than 6 months with them). YES, they have some kick-ass audio quality and no distortion but they keep breaking down constantly.

  14. 2fast4all says:

    @cmsstacker123 after 2 years of driving, I realized I needed a sub!!

  15. CoupeDeville23 says:

    I love these speakers and recommend them to anyone who wants very bright detailed highs… their mid bass production isn’t the greastest though… I’m throwing over 70watts rms from a pdx-4.100 and I have NEVER heard any of my kappas distort

  16. imfercho says:

    Yeah they are nice looking but If you are thinking about buying an Infinity Kappa component speaker system, DON’T! The tweeters just suck! They design is just bad (huge, lack of discretion, not elegant and very very complicate to instal), and also they burn out just by using a decent volume.

  17. prankcallz444 says:

    @45123 i know this… but if you dont want to buy subwoofers but you still want some deep bass…. dont go with these speakers. dont get me wrong, they have excelent highs/mids. but no low bass. which my 6.5 can produce a lot of low bass frequencys for being a 6.5

  18. 45123 says:

    @prankcallz444 car speakers are meant to be played as mid/highs, not low(bass)

  19. cmsstacker123 says:

    Guys….keep in mind that theyy do require a good subwoofer…..the do not have good bass…..and this because of their cone material….I have them…..I like them….

  20. cmsstacker123 says:

    Guys…simple..if you do not have a sub do not buy them…they do not have good bass…..otherwise they can handle good…..

  21. cmsstacker123 says:

    They are great for vocals…they are NOT good for bass……They require a good subwoofer like the new infinity kappa….i have them…if someone wants to ask me something about them just pm me…..I have the 60.9 cs and they are 3.6 ohms…..

  22. prankcallz444 says:

    @coddsac65 not really…. i bought the kappa series 6.5. and i was really dissapointed at the bass and i sent them back. they costed $90 i went to a brand called PowerBass. and they are amazing and they only cost $50

  23. crutchfieldtv says:

    @mAdBuMpIn

    Technically speaking, you are correct, when the impedance shown to the amp drops, THD increases, along with the power. In practice however, the impedance is not dropping enough to increase the distortion enough to consider it worse sound.

    Most would agree that a 2-ohm speaker “sounds better” than an equivalent 4-ohm speaker. The extra power you get out of the amp outweighs the increased distortion.

    That’s why they are so highly rated by our customers.

  24. mAdBuMpIn says:

    low ohms = more power less quality…. higher ohms = less power . but cleaner sound ….please don’t false advertise like bigge91 said

  25. bigge91 says:

    2 ohm doesnt mean better sound. thats false advertising
